Barbara Forrest

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Oregon artist Barbara Forrest has been sketching and painting landscapes since childhood. Her early years were spent in St. Louis and across the river in Illinois and she continued painting and taking art classes in Texas, Alberta, and Portland. In 1995 she left a career as an audiologist to pursue art full time. She hopes that her love of the Pacific Northwest and the outdoors is conveyed through her use of the clear vibrant colors that she sees in nature. Her deckle edged miniature landscapes recall old-fashioned photos such as those taken with a Brownie box camera. She also paints in larger sizes and both her originals and prints are for sale.

Barbara also created the "Oregon Alphabet." Using letterforms based on the Uncial alphabet, she paints names or words in Northwest motifs -- trees, fish, mountains, birds, etc.

Barbara also enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and reading mysteries. Her mission is to explore and paint every corner of the Northwest. Barbara's work is represented in many fine shops and galleries throughout the Northwest.
